Mary McEwen

Born in Sitka, Alaska, Mary McEwen lived in many other places around the world before making her current home in an 1890s miners’ shack in downtown Juneau. After completing a BA in Art from Seattle Pacific University, Mary served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo, West Africa before returning to school to earn a MPH at Yale University.

Engaging in wide variety of both “art” and “crafts”– including painting, photography, fiber arts, and digital art. Making art with her kids has her improvising with materials such as crayons, markers, and water-based paint as they work together.

Mary brings a modern and fresh aesthetic to her work, representing her connection to the natural beauty of the region in a way that feels authentic but modern.
